Playing around with bits and pieces

These two pictures are of my seedlings growing on the window ledge at home. I like taking pictures of things close up, and my last camera wasn't much good at that so I'm enjoying playing with that. The camera has a setting called 'aperture priority mode'. My probably very poor understanding of this is that when you select a small number for the aperture, the background around this things you are capturing appears more blurry. The theory seems to be working here!

I took is one by the river bank. I liked the little flower buds, and wondered if the moving water behind would make an interesting effect. This time I tried using a longer exposure time so the moving water would look like it was rushing by. I think it worked well on this picture. I took a few more of the river but it turned out I didn't hold the camera still enough so it just looked blurry!

I've always had a minor obsession with fairy lights so I decide to take pictures of them next! On the picture below I set the camera on a really long exposure time, and balanced it on the floor so I didn't have to try and hold it steady. I moved the lights occasionally to see what happened, and I think it's pretty cool how the lights look like ghost lights in the photo.

Another long exposure picture here. I tried pouring juice into the glass while the camera was taking the picture.

Buttons close up, and buttons being shuffled :)
